1939-10-14: Final Fate: Op reis van Cristobal en Kingston (Jamaica) naar Le Havre met een lading stukgoederen werd de ‘BRETAGNE’ op 14 october 1939, varend in convooi ‘KJF 3’, bij het Engelse Kanaal, ten Zuid-Westen van Fastnet, in positie 50°20’NB. en 12°45’WL. getorpedeerd en tot zinken gebracht door de Duitse onderzeeboot ‘U.45’. Van de opvarenden van de ‘BRETAGNE’ verloren 7 personen hierbij het leven.
