Ship Events Data

2017-12-31: Spontaneous combustion caused cargo fire.
On Dec 31, 2017, at 1.15 p.m. a fire broke out in the cargo hold of the "Amber" which was docked at the Seville port Terminal Esclusa,. The fire was extinguished by teams both of the port autority and seven firefighters from the city council of Seville city. They shut off the compartment and flooded it with carbon dioxide gas of the ship's own fire suppression system. 30 minutes later cranes started to extract the damaged cargo which was further cooled down on the quay. The port of Seville laid out anti-pollution barries as a precaution. The ship was loaded with 5.500 tons beet, and a fermenting process was thought to have been the cause of the spontaneous combustion which, however, only affected a small part of the cargo. The ship had arrived from Liepaja on Dec 30.
