Op stapel staande door de Stoomvaart-Mij 'Amstel' aangekocht en op 19 januari 1907 als AMSTELDAM te water gelaten.

Final Fate:
Op reis met een lading steenkolen van Shields naar London op 6 mijl ten noorden van Flamborough Head getorpedeerd door de Duitse onderzeeboot 'UB.21' en verloren gegaan.
Built for N.V. Stmvt Maats Amstel (Hoyman & Schuurman), Amstel, Holland; Yard No 78; Launch Date 19/01/1907; 1 x Hotchkiss 6 pounder stern gun; Sister ship to the TAURUS lost off Scarborough; One of five colliers own by the South Metropoliton Gas Co. lost off the Yorkshire coast whilst transporting coal during WW1. The other ships where: TOGSTON, QUAGGY, GIRALDA, KENNINGTON. The Amsteldam was torpedoed by UB-21, whilst under the command of Walter Scheffer. The torpedo struck abreast the stokehold on the port side blowing in the ships side amidships and blowing up the deck and bridge / wheelhouse. She was abandoned in five minutes; 20 crew, 4 lives lost. The TOGSTON and CADMUS where also sunk on the same day in Bridlington Bay by UC-47. ref. used:Carl Racey †, East Coast Shipwreck Research Carl Racey † 15/10/2009 The AMSTELDAM was on charter by the owners, the South Metropolitan Gas Co. with 1900 tons of gas coal for London. She was following verbal route orders steaming at 8 knots in the war channel on a fine, clear day with smooth seas. At 4.30 p.m. she was 6 miles north of Flamborough Head when a torpedo was sighted by the lookout from the crows nest on the foremast. It was on the port beam 300 to 400 yards away. The helm was put hard to port but the torpedo struck abreast of the stokehold on the port side, blowing up the wheelhouse and bridge, killing four men in the engine room and wounding the Master and 1st Mate on the bridge.
